A giclée is a digital fine art print produced by a high quality Iris or Roland printer. The pigments used are dyes, and the process is often referred to as dye-sublimation printing. Dye sublimation prints are continuous tone, photographic in their quality, and can very closely represent vibrant colors in the RGB color space.

Giclée printing is also favored by artists because it can be used to place an image on watercolor paper or canvas -- giving the print a very close feel to the original. With focused hand-painted embellishments, these prints have the feel and look of an original painting.

Under standard conditions it can last over Sixty years. These prints additionally have been coated with ultra violet inhibitors that will add even more years to their longevity, perhaps even as much as twice as long.

Many museums have purchased giclées for their collections. The price of a giclée depends on many things. It will vary according to an artist’s reputation, the number of prints in the edition, and the actual size of the print.
